Asuka [ásk-uh] noun: Flying birds; Fragrant morrow

Once upon a time in olden Japan, there was an era called Asuka, going back some 1,400 years ago, when art and culture flourished and society and economy thrived, shaping the national identity for the first time in her history.  Contemporary Japanese often regard Asuka as the origin of their revered spirits and celebrated heritage.
